Twenty years ago, a desire emerged within the family — to revive something forgotten yet essential. At its heart lay a tribute to the grandfather Heller, a man whose legacy in Cuba shaped tobacco history. Once the largest exporter of Cuban leaf, he operated at the highest levels, woven into stories still passed from generation to generation.
One specific taste profile of Cuba had disappeared: a cappuccino / latte milk froth quality, a mythical blend that had vanished from the cigar world.
La Estancia is the center of the house in Cuba, where people gather — a poetic image, a place where family stories are shared and remembered. Memories of the family’s grandfather and his Cuban journey still resonate today. The brand preserves this emotional heritage, bringing the current generation together at the symbolic center of the house.
La Estancia Edición Exclusiva is a unique story and therefore a unique blend and cigar — a new creation with references to historical blends that have disappeared.
Two challenges defined La Estancia Edición Exclusiva:
The seed varietal had changed, the original plants were no longer cultivated, entire micro-terroirs had transformed. Recreating the taste meant reinterpreting the style of a cigar that had disappeared — bringing back a quality lost in 1991 while working with tobaccos that no longer existed.
The result is not a reproduction, but a reinterpretation of what these old-school classic Cuban cigars were: the aromatic profile that people remember, expressed through new tobaccos capable of delivering the same sensations.
This is the only other brand, outside of MEERAPFEL Cigar, where tobaccos and cigars are aged in Brussels and the product is assembled at the MAISON MEERAPFEL.
However, unlike the MEERAPFEL Cigar aged in Paulownia vaults, La Estancia Edición Exclusiva is aged in traditional cedar vaults — a direct nod to the traditional Cuban approach.
Production takes place in Honduras.
The boxes feature an industry-leading piano-lacquered finish — a level of craftsmanship extremely difficult to achieve and rarely seen in the cigar world.
The bands were among the first to work with a cut-out double-band structure — an industry-leading innovation. A very original triple band, highly intricate, with many subtle references to Cuba, purely aesthetic.
